Academic Senate Scholarship

The Academic Senate Scholarship is made possible by the faculty of San Diego Miramar College. To assist students, the Senate established this scholarship awarded each year.

SELECTION CRITERIA

  • Current Miramar College Student
  • Enrolled in at least six (6) units
  • Completed one semester at Miramar College

In a single essay, please respond to one or more of the areas below, focusing on a single area or addressing multiple areas where they meaningfully intersect in your experience:

Academic Goals and Educational Purpose
Describe your academic and/or professional goals and how your educational experiences are helping you move toward them.
Community Engagement and Service
Discuss your involvement in service, leadership, or community engagement, either on campus or beyond. This may include formal or informal roles, advocacy, volunteer work, or peer support. Reflect on the impact of this engagement on others and on your own development.
Challenges, Persistence, and Growth
Describe a significant challenge you have encountered during your educational journey. This may include academic, personal, financial, structural, or systemic obstacles. Explain how you navigated this challenge and what you learned from the experience.

The San Diego Miramar College Foundation have dedicated themselves to raising money to help students reach their educational and vocational dreams.
All Scholarship recipients will be required to provide a “Thank You” Letter to the donor expressing your sincere appreciation of the award(s).

Note: If you are selected and notified of a scholarship award, you must claim it no later than December 19, 2026, unless otherwise specified in the scholarship guidelines. Awards not claimed by this date will be forfeited.
